RE: South East Florida

TY County Park was recently updated and has the longest paved sites of those in Broward County. They have a few pretty good pictures on their website. CB Smith has a few long sites, but I wouldn't call them 70'. You can see some pics of CB Smith Park here. Markham park has some pull thrus, but again they are not that long. Here is an earlier post with a few pictures of Markham park sites And here is our Bus in site G5 @ Markham Park. Plenty wide. FYI not every site in Markham park is paved so be sure to request that if you choose to stay here. http://hereslucy.squarespace.com/storage/campground/MP%20Site%20G5.jpg http://hereslucy.squarespace.com/storage/campground/MP%20Site%20G5%20Driver%20Side.jpg Here is the Broward County Park CG link Full hookups available at all Broward County parks. Larry & Penny Thompson Memorial Park in Miami-Dade county is nice with full hookups too -- but 70' length --- hmmm I don't think so. Unless you back up onto the grass behind the pavement. RE: North Carolina Mountains

This is a site you want to bookmark. Once the leaves start to turn they provide a weekly report. This link will take you to the VA, NC, TN status, but you can also check progress for Midwest and Northeast -- and look at the historical info for all three areas. South East Foliage Report Well the link looks a little funny but it works.. guess I maxed out on the length. Here is the link to the main menu so you can inquire on any area. RE: How long should Walk thru at dealership take for inspecting?

We spent 2.5 days @ the dealership for our PDI. We had a dedicated service mgr during the day for as long as we needed. He spent over 8 hours the first day and about 4 hours the next. We spent 2 nights in the MH on the dealer lot to further checkout systems and they gave us phone numbers to call someone if we had a problem at night. This is a standard PDI process where we purchased. They encourage the customer to take as long as needed and even said we could take the MH to a local CG for the night if we preferred it over their lot. Don't be afraid to say you want more time and I suggest you hold onto your final check to them until you are satisfied. We had 2 checks. One at the start of the PDI and the balance the day we left. RE: Being a considerate RV owner

It is just as rude to come here and scold RVers with your first post on the forum as it is drive slowly thru town holding up traffic. Rv or no RV. I suspect you just wanted payback, as my guess is 99%+ of the members here are unlikely to be so unkind driving thru your town. Seems like the score is even now. Lucy

RE: Anyone Working at Home Online Business?

My sister started selling used books on Amazon recently. It's not a full time or part time job for her. She just had so many and is trying to downsize all her "stuff" over time. She's doing quite well with this and said it's easy. She did start her pricing low so she could build up reviews. I don't know how it all works, but seems like it might be easy to do from any location. If you don't have a good supply of books you could probably pick up lots of them @ garage sales. Lucy

OP I can't imagine going 65 down a mountain road in any RV. Mountain be the keyword here. That seems unsafe to me. Lucy

RE: Let us see pictures of your modifications

Recovered valances and dinette chairs. Replaced day/night shades with MCD shades and had carpet replaced with tile. We had the chairs done by a local upholsterer and the tile work was done a by Tiffin worker after hours. We installed our own MCD shades and I recovered the valances myself. The bedroom was easy but the front valances a lot more work because of the leather trim around the cover boards. I have a few more -- the bedroom and some close ups. If interested you can see them in the link below. About half way down on the page. Click on pics to enlarge. One in particular shows a bigger shot of the tile. More pics Lucy

RE: N.C. RV owners take note

I too live in the great state of NC. The job I have requires me to travel a distance of 14 counties, and maintain 41 locations, handling all maintenance problems from ac issues to electricial repair. I am on call 24/7/365 and belive me I know all about the "good ole boy" system we have here in NC. Several years ago I got a speeding ticket for 74 in a 55. I was on a lonley back country road, no cars in sight, and yes I was guilty. By the time I saw the trooper it was too late. I went to the county seat where I got the ticket, talked to the D.A. and got it reduced to "improper equipment". Cost me 125 bucks and I was on my way. Never showed up on my driving record so no harm no foul. A couple of years later, I got another one, this time for a 70 in a 55, same deal, back road, no traffic, topped a hill and there he was. This time the D.A. in that particular county wasn't so happy to help me, so I hired a lawyer. Cost me 450 bucks but it "went away". The last one I got, I was passing an 18 wheeler, on a downhill grade, and saw a car approaching at the top of the next hill. So, trying to think "safe" I sped up, and went around him so I could get back in my lane. Trooper got me for 87 in a 55 this time. This one cost me 760 bucks. All this to make a two points, first, I don't speed anymore, it costs too much money. And second, If you have enough money in NC the "good ole boy" system works. Kinda sad huh? This is 100% true. RE: Any African American Families camping/Rving in Georgia?

I take ofensse to this only because if I would ask or someone would ask if there is a place where we could camp with white people this would be a problem. The last time I checked, camping is camping, white or black it does not matter to me. Be safe and happy camping. Ditto Heck, I was considering a post looking to start a camping club for middle age people in my area, but I thought it might be offensive. I didn't post this to offend anyone. We were only hoping to find some African American Families in our area that liked to camp. We have no problem camping with "white" people, considering the fact that I'm white and my husband is black and our kids are interacial. And yes, camping is camping no matter what color you are. And why not look for "middle age" people in your area if that's who you would like to hang out with every once in a while. I don't think it would be offensive. Just like retired people have a different schedule as young people with kids. Retired people can go camping any time they feel like it, us younger ones, not retired yet, have to go by work schedules, school schedules and are not as free yet. Well you did not offend me and I think your inquiry is a reasonable one. Some of you are reading way too much into this very innocent request. People look for specific things about camping everyday -- some of it is people related or desires for special amenities. E.g., Adult only parks, no pets, 55 older only, resorts, primitive camping. etc. This is just another specific inquiry and nothing more. Good luck OP wish I had some info for you. We are starting to explore GA, so perhaps we will see you out and about someday. Lucy

Camp Hatteras in the Outer Banks is the only one I know of. They have 3 pools. 1 indoor, 1 outdoor and one for the kids. Lucy

RE: Caught price gouging in Florida

The Flying J -- next to Lazydays. Yep - pretty remote, nobody will ever know. :R That article has this info at the end "The Attorney General's office encourages Floridians to continue calling with complaints. Anyone who suspects a local gas station of price-gouging is asked to call 1-866-966-7226." Lucy

RE: In Florida with no car or toad ?

Periwinkle Park & CG on Sanibel Island. What other's say about it. We have not stayed there, but I'd like to try it someday. We were staying at a place west of Ft. Myers and drove over to the island to see the beaches. I did not know the CG was there otherwise we would have stopped in for a visit. But oh my - if you like beaches, this is something to see. http://hereslucy.squarespace.com/storage/Sanibel%20Island.jpg Their website says they are within walking/biking distance to shopping, dining, and one of the reviews above says groceries within walking distance too. Looks like places to rent bikes, scooters and something about a tour bus. No pets and cash/check only (the later I thought odd -- but must be a good reason). I think this might be a neat experience -- having no car. Walk or bike to everything. Lucy
